Louisville, Lexington Chambers Team Up For Trip

About 400 Kentuckians will visit Pittsburgh in May of next year, to take notes on the city’s transformation. The chambers of commerce of both Louisville and Lexington are organizing the trip----their first joint ‘leadership expedition’.GLI spokesperson Carmen Hickerson says they’re trying to think regionally.“To me," says Hickerson, "the really exciting part is to see Lexington and Louisville working in partnership on something and putting aside differences and putting aside competitiveness, and saying that we want to do what’s good for the whole state.”Hickerson says Pittsburgh grabbed their attention earlier this year when it hosted the G20 Summit.“They’ve transformed themselves from what was formerly sort of a steel manufacturing northeast town to a very active, green, entrepreneurial, happening kind of place, and we thought that was something that would be worth us taking a look at," she says.Hickerson says while in Pittsburgh for two days, they’ll meet with government and business leaders.
