Officials with the American Red Cross are urging Louisville-area residents to remember blood donations over the holiday weekend.Red Cross spokesperson Karen Stecher says donations typically drop-off while people are enjoying food, football and parades with their families.“Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood," says Stecher. "So the need doesn’t go away even while we’re enjoying wonderful holidays with our friends and family.”There are three blood drives this weekend in the Louisville area: two on Friday at the downtown blood donation center on Chestnut and at the east end donation center on Hubbards Lane. The east end donation center will also hold a blood drive on Saturday.
