Salvation Army Bellringers Begin Holiday Collections

From WFPL 's Haley HartThe Louisville-area command of the Salvation Army has begun its holiday Red Kettle Campaign, the biggest fundraiser of the year for the charitable organization.Commander Major Keath Biggers says the group has set fundraising goal this year of $500,000 dollars to meet a growing need for its programs.“We’re seeing families that we haven’t seen before, according the director of our Center of Hope, that are coming for meals now, and just basic social services requests have increased tremendously compared to last year,” Biggers said.Proceeds from the Kettle Campaign are used to provide food, clothing and toys to families for the holiday season and for other services throughout the year.
