Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels is touting a military contractor's decision to set up operations in Indiana. The Telic Corporation mainly designs and manufactures military ordnance such as grenade launchers. It will operate out of the now-empty Newport Chemical Depot in western Indiana.Daniels says the area is in need of manufacturing jobs."It's rural," he says. "Aside from an Eli Lilly manufacturing site, there's not a lot of big employers out there and this will be a very big boost."Telic's operations could bring about 500 jobs to the area. Daniels says he hopes the business will set a precedent for other manufacturers to relocate to the depot.
