Southern Indiana residents will get a chance to weigh in on a proposed statewide water rate increase Monday. The Indiana American Water Company filed a request earlier this year for 46.8 million dollars in new annual revenues to cover operations and maintenance.Utility Consumer Counselor spokesperson Anthony Swinger says that request will translate to increased water rates for Hoosiers."The average monthly bill would increase from about 29 and a half dollars to just under 41 dollars," he says. "Now that's under the utility's proposal, and I would point out that the Utility Counselor's office has not yet weighed in."The Utility Counselor's Office will release its comments on the proposed increase Tuesday. The public meeting in Jeffersonville will be held at Kye's banquet hall at 5:30 Monday.
