A $20-million construction project is underway at the Sellersburg campus of Ivy Tech Community College. Vice-chancellor of enrollment services Terry Nolot says the project will add about one-thousand classroom seats to the campus. He says they’ve seen a big jump in enrollment, and have just under five-thousand students this year.“That was an increase of nearly 15-percent from last fall," says Nolot. "We’ve averaged a double-digit fall enrollment increase four years in a row.”He says it's part of a larger trend.“Community college enrollment statewide at Ivy Tech in Indiana and in community colleges nationwide has been on the rise for nearly a decade," says Nolot. "The downturn in the economy certainly has increased the growth rate over the last year or two.”Nolot says the campus additions will also include a 200-seat auditorium, a community center and a mock courtroom. The $20-million is coming from Indiana’s state budget, but they’ve started a capital campaign for the additions.
