Tandy Running For Metro Mayor

Louisville Metro Council President David Tandy said he would file paperwork  Monday with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance, declaring his intent to run for the office of Louisville Metro Mayor.

The move allows Tandy to being raising money in his bid to succeed fellow Democrat Jerry Abramson, who will run for Lt. Governor instead of seeking a final term in 2010."We'll be making a more formal announcement in the months ahead, but we're just taking this preliminary step right now to start the campaign and move forward with what we will believe will be a positive campaign focused on issues,"  Tandy said Monday.Tandy has represented the 4th Metro Council district since 2005.The only other major party candidate to formally announce for mayor thus far is Democrat Greg Fischer, a Louisville businessman.    Louisville coffee shop owner Nimbus Couzin  announced he'll run as an independent.
