A charge of wanton endangerment against former Pleasure Ridge Park High School football coach Jason Stinson has been dismissed. The charge is in the case of 15-year-old Max Gilpin, who collapsed during practice and died three days later. Circuit Judge Susan Schultz Gibson dismissed the charge, saying the prosecution should have told the grand jury that the defense wished to make a statement.Gilpin's mother, Michele Crockett, says the criminal charge will still be pursued."I think it will be re-presented on Monday and I do think the same verdict will come down, whether they allow him to speak or not," she says.Stinson still faces a reckless homicide charge and a civil suit in the Gilpin case. Judge Shultz is also expected to rule next week on the prosecution's attempt to block a Jefferson County Public Schools report that exonerates Stinson of criminal wrongdoing. The prosecution calls the study "self-serving."
