Thursday AM Flood Update

Classes are resuming today at the University of Louisville’s Belknap and Health Sciences campus, but many classes are being moved because of flood damage in some buildings. You can go to www.louisville.edu for details.Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital (including the Emergency room) and the Sts. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital Surgery Center (including all outpatient procedures) are closed until futher notice because of flooding. The Wound Care Center and outpatient rehab remain open. Physician offices are also open in the various medical office buildings.The main branch of the Louisville Free Public Library will remain closed through the end of the week because of the heavy damage to the basement. MoreJefferson County Public Schools officials say water damage at several dozen schools throughout the district will be repaired in time for the start of fall classes on August 13. MoreSome animals are now being returned to Metro Animal Services. Workers evacuated about 550 cats and dogs from the facility as it flooded rapidly Tuesday morning. Eleven animals perished in the flooding.Louisville Metro Government officials have begun a damage assessment to be submitted to federal officials for a disaster declaration. More
