An online survey conducted by the Public Service Commission ends tomorrow. The survey was launched last month to get public input on safety issues during January’s ice storm.Spokesperson Andrew Melnykovych says the PSC is trying to find out what people knew in regard to safety during an extended power outage.“As we saw during the ice storm," says Melnykovych, "there were still a considerable number of serious injuries and even fatalities as a result of people doing things like running a generator in their garage or in their basement, and various other things that were really preventable kinds of injuries and fatalities.”Melnykovych says nearly 800 people have taken the survey. After tomorrow’s deadline, he says they’ll work to compile the results in a report that will be combined with information from area utility companies about how the state can be better prepared for the next major outage.
