Stimulus Used To Create Summer Jobs

450 people under the age of 24 have been put to work this summer through the federal stimulus package.Kentuckiana Works is overseeing the project, which puts young people to work at nonprofits and public resources like schools and parks.Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson says the stimulus dollars replace public and private funds that have dried up in the last year.“In the past, cities, non-profits, businesses had a lot of money to be able to hire youngsters for summer jobs,” he says. “Unfortunately, because of the recession, it’s been very difficult to do that.”The project uses $1.4 million from the federal stimulus package.
