The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education meets today and tomorrow in Berea. The council will meet for the first time with four new members who were appointed by Governor Steve Beshear. CPE President Robert King says policy-wise, the highlight of the meeting will be discussion around Senate Bill 1.“Which, we hope, will improve both the quantity and quality of that which they learn in the public school system, and most importantly, for those kids that choose to go to college, to assure that they are college-ready," says King.Senate Bill 1 essentially dissolved the statewide CATS system, and now education groups across the state are working together to develop a new testing system. The council is meeting at Berea College to learn about their retention efforts.
