Beshear And Abramson Discuss Election Rumors

Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear isn’t ruling out the possibility of tapping Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson as a running mate in 2011 if Abramson decides not to seek re-election.Beshear says he's just beginning to think about running for re-election himself and he will make a decision soon about a second term and a possible running mate."Well I've talked to several people about that and I will say this, you've got one of the finest mayors in America in Jerry Abramson," he says. "He has demonstrated his leadership over 20-something years of turning this community into one of the finest communities in the country."Abramson says he will probably announce his intentions in the next two weeks on whether he’ll seek a third and final term as Metro Mayor. If he doesn't, he says running for lieutenant governor is an option."He's been a long-time friend, doing a great job in the Commonwealth. It's obviously an option to think about if in fact he's interested in having me join him."Beshear says he will have to choose a new running mate if he does seek re-election. Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo is pursuing the Democratic nomination for the 2010 Senate race
