Layoffs Forthcoming At Airport Authority

The head of Louisville's Regional Airport Authority says sagging revenues will force the authority to make some deep cuts in its budget for the next fiscal year, including some layoffs.Executive Director Skip Miller says the aviation industry has been reeling over the past year from unstable fuel prices and the national recession."All of that equates to reduced passenger traffic and reduced revenues here at the airport authority in Louisville and airports across the country, Miller said Thursday.Miller says a final decision on layoff numbers will be made next week. He says the lean budget will also force the authority to delay some maintenance and construction projects. The authority operates Louisville International Airport and Bowman Field.
