Churchill Downs is offering one-dollar beer and reduced admission fees for people who attend their two remaining night racing events. The changes are a mea culpa for problems at last Friday’s foray into night racing. Many patrons say they had to wait more than an hour in concessions lines; some stands ran out of product.Track spokesperson Darren Rogers says it was an unacceptable mistake, and Churchill is prepared to accommodate more people this Friday.“When it comes to food and beverage service, we’re going to have triple the staff. Triple the staff," says Rogers, "so people will not have to wait in line for cheap beer. I think they’re going to have their levels of service definitely met, you can bet on it. We’ll be ready this time and we hope to have another large crowd.”Churchill Downs offered night racing as a way to boost attendance and attract new fans to the track.More than 28,000 people attended the first-ever night racing card at Churchill. The other two night racing events are set for Friday, and July 2nd.
