Search For Education Commissioner Continues This Week

The search for a new Kentucky Education Commissioner continues this week when the state Board of Education meets in Frankfort. The panel will meet Wednesday and Thursday.Spokesperson Lisa Gross says a Florida search firm has gathered applications for the position, to present to the board.“They’ll be reviewing some applications for that position, and that is just a continuation of the process," says Gross. "They’ll be conducting some interviews later on this month and hope to have someone named to the position by August first.”Gross says she doesn’t know how many candidates will be interviewed – in the past they’ve interviewed up to nine people in the first round of the process. The department has been without a commissioner since Jon Draud resigned earlier this year for health reasons.
