The Louisville Convention and Visitors Bureau has started another tourism campaign in Indiana. The bureau has set up a Louisville informational kiosk in the Circle Centre Mall in Indianapolis. It will be operated by interns and students, with a total cost of $32 thousand.Bureau President Jim Wood says the initiative has not generated any tensions with city leaders."We informed them several days in advance of what we were doing," he says. "They were fully supportive; they thought it was a great idea. They wish they could do the same thing down in Louisville."In March, a permitting issue blocked the bureau from using an outdoor light show in Indianapolis during the NCAA basketball tournament to highlight Louisville. The kiosk opened Friday and will remain open through Labor Day.
