From Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeighCampbellsville native Andy Olson is the 2008 Kentucky State Police Trooper of the Year. Olson was honored in ceremonies in Frankfort, at which 70 other awards for valor, bravery and life-saving acts were handed out. Olson says troopers never know what they may face each day, when they don their uniforms. “You can range from changing a tire on the parkway to being involved in a shooting. You never know," says Olson. "That’s part of, I guess, why we do this job. It’s the un-predictableness, coupled along with the community service. It’s a good feeling to get out there and help somebody and moreover, like I said, to be recognized by your peers. It’s just a great honor.”The 2008 Vehicle Enforcement Officer of the Year is Larry Farris of Maysville. Justice Secretary Michael Brown and KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer handed out the awards.
