Former Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Stephen Daeschner is among the applicants for the open superintendent's position at Greater Clark County Schools. With a goal of hiring someone by the end of next month, the Greater Clark School Board stopped accepting applications this week. Daeschner's application was among those received. Board president Bob McEwan won't speculate on Daeschner's chances, but he says the board is looking for someone with impressive credentials."Obviously his reputation speaks for itself," he says. "I'm glad to have everyone who applied. I'm very happy they showed an interest in Greater Clark."Daeschner left JCPS for a district in Illinois in 2007 after his contract was not renewed. The new superintendent of Greater Clark will replace Dr. Tony Bennett, who was elected as Indiana's state superintendent of public instruction.
