The 2009 class of the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame will be inducted this week at a banquet in Louisville. The inductees include Dan Ulmer, co-owner and chairman of the Louisville Bats. He's also chairman of the Minor League Baseball Board of Trustees and co-chair of the Louisville Arena Authority.Ulmer led a team of buyers that brought minor league baseball back to Louisville in the early 1980s after a ten-year absence. He says community support of the franchise spurred a revitalization of the game elsewhere."The catalyst for all the reorganization of minor league baseball and the new facilities around the country and the 40 million people that have come to ballparks last year in the minor leagues, is pretty much from the early success of the Redbird franchise here," Ulmer said.A complete list of inductees can be found here.
