Who Are The Affrilachian Poets?

Living and writing in a region like Appalachia - where the vast majority of residents are of European descent, and representations in popular culture are overwhelmingly white - can make inhabitants who don't fit that stereotype feel invisible. The Affrilachian Poets, a diverse mix of Kentucky -based Appalachian writers are a writing and publishing collective supporting each other in writing, publishing, and making their literary voices heard. Their mission is "to help make the invisible visible." This Spring they're on a bus tour, reading their work throughout the region, and this Friday, they'll stop in our studio. Join us when we meet a co-founder and two other Affrilachian Poets and talk with them about their work and experiences.
