A University of Louisville panel has found no wrongdoing in the awarding of a doctorate degree to a student of former Education Dean Robert Felner.During his tenure at U of L, he advised a student who was awarded a PhD in 2004, after just one semester of study.A university panel has found that waivers expediting the process were granted for the student by the graduate dean, not Felner. The student successfully completed a dissertation and defense in one semester and was awarded a degree. The panel reviewed degrees from the last ten years and found that such waivers were rare, but the graduate dean acted within his authority.Felner is awaiting trial on charges of misappropriating federal grant funds. The university declined further comment, citing academic privacy laws.
