Coalition Again Sponsors Alternative To Thunder

A local group opposed to the use of military aircraft in the Thunder over Louisville air show will again stage its own alternative event Saturday.Silence over Thunder Coalition leader Terry Taylor says the Kentucky Derby Festival has been receptive to the group’s concerns."Even if the military recruiting tables are not being taken away from the Thunder event, the Kentucky Derby Festival has agreed to add a table for the Peace Corps. Which we think is really positive and powerful," he says.Festival officials say the military aircraft demonstration is not intended to glorify war, and there will be non-military aircraft taking part in the event.The coalition will hold its third annual Alternative to Thunder picnic Saturday at the Americana Community Center.
