Indiana Wind Power Growing Fast

Indiana is on track to produce more than 800 megawatts of its power from wind energy by the end of this year, enough to power 800,000 homes.  Two new wind energy projects broke ground in the western part of the state this week.  Governor Mitch Daniels says these make the state the fastest growing in wind power.  He says he wants to make his state energy-independent.“We intend to be self-sufficient in energy.  And to do this in every way possible. And we’re particularly excited about the cleaner, newer alternatives that are now coming to the fore," says Daniels. While the Hoosier state isn’t anywhere near surpassing states like Texas and California in the amount of wind power available, it’s well ahead of Kentucky.  The American Wind Energy Association says Kentucky has no wind energy sites installed or under construction, ranking it 49th out of 50 states when it comes to wind power.
