A fifteen-ton weight limit for the Milton-Madison Bridge over the Ohio River takes effect Thursday.Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesperson Robin Jenkins says the bridge needs repairs."We did a biannual inspection in December and it indicated there was some deterioration on some areas of the bridge," she says. "So as a precaution we put the weight limit on it and we're developing plans for the repairs."Jenkins says no timeline for the repairs has been set, but they will most likely start in the summer. In the meantime, vehicles that weigh more than 15 tons will need to find other passage across the Ohio River. The nearest crossings are 26 miles downstream in Louisville and 26 miles upstream in Vevay, Indiana.
