A team of arborists called an Urban Forest Strike Team will begin work tomorrow to assess tree damage caused by January’s ice storm. Lynn Brammer with Kentucky’s Energy and Environment Cabinet says they’ll survey trees on publicly owned land. “For one, they want to assess the trees to determine if the damage is so significant that it ought to be removed entirely," says Brammer, "there are a lot of broken limbs, and a lot of branches that could potentially be dangerous to the public.”The team will assess trees in Mayfield, Madisonville and Paducah through the end of the month. Money spent to remove or prune the trees they mark can be refunded by FEMA.
