Bunning Apologizes For Ginsburg Remarks

U.S. Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky has apologized for saying that U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg could die soon from pancreatic cancer. The Republican lawmaker's remarks came during a Saturday speech in Elizabethtown when the subject turned to the appointment of conservative judges. He said Ginsburg has the type of cancer that people often die from within nine months.Ginsburg underwent surgery earlier this month to remove a small tumor from her pancreas and was back at work today.“I apologize if my comments offended Justice Ginsberg,” Bunning said in a statement. “That certainly was not my intent. It is great to see her back at the Supreme Court today and I hope she recovers quickly. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.”
