Abramson Requests Information On Buried Power Lines

Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson wants to know what it will take to improve the city’s electricity infrastructure.This week Abramson sent letters to Louisville Gas and Electric and the Public Service Commission. He wants the organizations to tell the public the details of burying power lines and making other improvements.“What does it cost, what are the options, what can people do, what are the levels of cost? All of that needs to be, I think, on the table for discussion and my hope is that the public service commission will create an administrative process where we can in fact get the facts out on the table," he says.LG and E officials say burying existing lines is an expensive undertaking that would result in rate increases. Lines are typically buried in new developments.
