EPA Seeks "Most Wanted" Fugitives

The Environmental Protection Agency has unveiled a new web site aimed at capturing environmental criminals. The new “Most Wanted” site lists 23 fugitives with mug shots and descriptions of alleged crimes.  Many of them include the illegal discharge of hazardous waste into streams and rivers.  And several were committed in southern Illinois and Ohio.  The agency hopes the public will help locate the fugitives, many of whom it presumes are living abroad.  If caught, most could be sentenced to stiff jail terms or fined.  The FBI and other law enforcement agencies maintain “most wanted” web sites. But this is the first such site to highlight environmental crimes.
