The planned closing of Otter Creek Park has prompted the formation of a citizens group that's trying to prevent the shutdown. The park is in Meade County but is owned by Louisville Metro Government. Mayor JerryAbramson ordered it closed effective January 1st to help bring the city budget into balance.Anna Collins is a longtime visitor and camper at the 26-hundred acre park. She's formed a group called "Friends of Otter Creek Park" to help find a way to keep it open."We're not organized to the point where we've got banners and this kind of stuff. we just want our voices heard," Collins said. The group will hold a rally Sunday to show support for the park, which gets about 500-thousand visitors annually. There's been discussion about the state taking over operation of the park.Collins says her group supports the idea, as long as the park is not opened to hunters.
