The University of Louisville may loosen its requirements for opting out of a new mandatory meal plan.Starting next fall, all full-time undergraduate students will be required to buy meal plans. Some students have complained, and the Student Government Association is asking for their input in revising the process to refuse the plans.Vice President of Student Affairs Tom Jackson says students with economic, religious or dietary restrictions can currently opt out of the plans, but that list may be expanded.βWhat student government is doing right now is looking at a different waiver process so we can determine which students will be exempted from any type of meal plans that we happen to have," he says. The meal plans for students who commute to class start at $250. Students who live on campus are already required to buy meal plans.
