Um... Slips, Stumbles, and Verbal Blunders

If you listen to a recording of yourself speaking, you might be surprised at how many times you say, "um," and, "uh." Hopefully you wouldn't hear yourself utter something like, "misunderestimate," or, "like such as in South Africa, and, uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as." Verbal missteps are the subject of Michael Erard's new book, "Um…: Slips, Stumbles, and Verbal Blunders, and What They Mean." He joins us on Thursday to talk about the book and the bloopers therein. Because of our Fall Membership Drive this is an archive edition and we will not be taking calls this week. To pledge your support for WFPL, please call 502-814-6565. Thank You!
