New Louisville Film Festival Announced

Plans have been announced for a new film festival to be launched next year in Louisville.It will be called Louisville's International Festival of Film, and will take place October 1-4 at venues to be announced later.One of the co-founders is Conrad Bachmann (pictured), a veteran movie and television actor and Louisville native. He says proceeds from the festival will benefit the non-profit Louisville Film Arts Institute."We want to educate children, we want to educate the state of Kentucky and reach out into the state of Kentucky with schools and bring film awareness throughout the entire state," he said.Bachmann says the festival will include films from numerous genres. He says subsequent festivals may include panel discussions with industry experts and a showcase of work by student filmmakers.

Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
