This week the Louisville Metro Council Budget Committee will once again consider the Center City project.A proposal to spend $12 million to purchase land for the 4th Street Live extension was tabled in two previous committee meetings. The panel will take it up again Wednesday. Republican Councilman Hal Heiner says he’s wary of spending the money without a more specific building guarantee from the project’s developer, Cordish Company.“We’ll give you the $26.5 million worth of land and improvements, however we want your commitment to a $400 million project, not a $12 million project," he says.If it isn’t tabled, the full council will vote on the measure next week. Council Democrats are generally in favor of approving the purchase; they outnumber Republicans 15-11.
