Southern Indiana Power Could Return This Weekend

Tens of thousands of homes in Southern Indiana remain without power. After Sunday’s wind storm, more than 90 thousand customers in Clark, Floyd and Harrison Counties were disconnected.Electricity in the area is provided by North Carolina-based Duke Energy. Spokesperson Angeline Protogere says more than half of the customers have had power restored, but many small repairs are still needed.“The majority of the power outages we’re working right now affect one to five customers," she says. "So for instance, you may have a crew that works an hour on a particular problem and restores service to only a handful of customers.”Crews from other Duke utilities in the Carolinas have been called to the area for assistance.
