The Jeffersontown City Council will hold a special meeting Thursday night to discuss the details of a new drug testing policy for city employees. The council voted Monday night to create a policy. It was prompted by last week's arrest of Public Works Director Joseph McMillan for possession of crack cocaine, and his subsequent firing.Mayor Clay Foreman, who hired McMillan early this year, says he supports a testing program."But doing so in a cost-effective manner, one that yields data that we can rely on, and hopefully set the example for those that come along in the future and apply for employment," Foreman said. The council will also discuss implementing a system of background checks.
