Justice Venters Sworn-In to Kentucky Supreme Court

From Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeighHe’s been on the job for a month, but the newest justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court has now been formally sworn-in.When former chief justice Joseph Lambert retired, Governor Beshear chose former circuit judge Daniel Venters of Somerset to fill Lambert’s unexpired term. During formal swearing-in ceremonies for Venters, Beshear was among those singing his praises."He listens," says Beshear. "He treats people with respect and dignity and he follows the law."Also praising Venters was Congressman Hal Rogers, who gave him his first job out of law school. Venters, who’s married to former state school board member Jane Adams Venters, has no opposition in the fall. Hyden lawyer Leonard Brashear qualified for the race, but recently withdrew his name from consideration.
