The annual Idea Festival will be held in Louisville later this month. This is the third Idea Festival to be held in Louisville and the ninth overall. Festival founder Kris Kimmel says he’s trying to turn the event into a world-renowned celebration of big ideas.“We want this to be the place like Sundance," he says. "If you’re in the independent film industry and you’re walking down the street in Paris, New York or whatever and somebody says, ‘Are you going to be at Sundance?’ people know what you mean. We want people to say the same thing about the Idea Festival.”This year’s festival will feature presentations from philosophers, scientists, authors and others. It starts on September 24th with the Idea Kentucky conference, an event designed to develop new ideas for improving the Commonwealth. The festival closes on the 27th.
