Sixty-nine Kentucky Democrats are representing the Commonwealth at the Democratic National Convention in Denver this week. The group is composed of 60 delegates and 9 alternates. While some delegates represent Senator Hillary Clinton, who won Kentucky’s primary, Kentucky Democratic Party Executive Director Jeremy Horton says he’s confident they won’t cause any shakeups when it comes time to select a presidential nominee.“Our hope is that Kentucky will join the rest of the country as we will – and we know we will – to unify behind Senator Obama," says Horton. "The Democratic party is strong in our beliefs that Senator Obama is the right candidate.”Democratic delegates vote for a presidential nominee on Wednesday. Obama's running mate, Delaware Senator Joe Biden will speak that day. Obama's acceptance speech is scheduled for Thursday.
