Construction is officially underway on a $1 million expansion project at the Louisville Science Center. The city has purchased the Alexander Building, located next to the center on West Main Street, to house a new science education center. Executive Director Gail Becker says the project has been in the discussion phase for a long time."We started talking about expansion in the summer of 2000, we made a wish list of what we would like, and you know if you don't make the wish, it's never going to come true. And here we are," Becker said. Construction of the wing is expected to be completed by next spring. It will provide space for events such as school field trips, after school programs and teacher workshops.
