The head of Louisville's Department of Housing and Family Services has resigned amid reports that her mother received some $2,000 in taxpayer subsidies to pay her past-due mortgage and other bills.In her resignation letter, Kimberly Bunton said her mother was qualified to receive the assistance, but acknowldged the payments created the perception that she received special treatment.Mayor Jerry Abramson says there's no evidence to indicate any laws were broken."However if my counsel, Tina Heavrin, who will be the acting director for the next several months, or the internal auditor find different, then we'll turn the matter over to the internal police integrity unit to do an analysis, but right now I think that we have it under control," Abramson said.Bunton earned an annual salary of $105,000 as housing chief. She had held the job since 2006.
