Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is part-way through his 12-city town hall tour, meeting with local residents and taking questions and comments. Spokeswoman Cathy Lindsey says some recurring themes are emerging from those meetings.“So far there’s been statewide concern about similar issues, such as child health care, education, jobs, roads.”Lindsey also says attendees have expressed support for raising the cigarette tax to boost the Commonwealth’s revenue. She says it’s an issue the Governor brings up, though he failed to push the tax increase through the last legislative session. Beshear’s approval rating, according to a Lexington Herald-Leader/WKYT Kentucky Poll, fell in the spring after what some call a rocky start to his administration.
