Every city-owned vehicle in Jeffersontown has a personal identification number that the employee is supposed to enter before filling up at the city fuel pump. Last month it was revealed that some drivers were putting in PINs that either didn’t exist or belonged to decommissioned vehicles.Jeffersontown Mayor Clay Foreman says he doesn’t think any employees were stealing fuel when they entered the wrong numbers.“A couple of them are not able to read, and that’s what their supervisor instructed them to do several years ago when they got in those positions where they needed to use the fuel center," says Foreman. The city is installing new equipment on its pumps that will prevent invalid identification numbers from being used.
