KY Booster Seat Law To Go Into Effect

Many laws passed by the Kentucky General Assembly earlier this year go into effect Tuesday, including a car booster seat requirement for children. The new law mandates that all children under seven who are 40 to 50 inches tall be strapped into a booster seat.Sherry Bray of the Kentucky State Police says that if families can not afford a booster seat, there is help available."I would advise them to contact their local law enforcement to see if (they) will be able to get a seat for them," Bray said. The law will be phased in, with courtesy warnings issued during the first year of enforcement. Also taking effect Tuesday are new rules affecting amusement park safety and tougher punishments for child sex abuse and animal cruelty.
