Family, friends and colleagues said their goodbyes Friday to longtime Louisville civil rights leader Reverend Louis Coleman.Hundreds of people gathered at in the Canaan Christian Church sanctuary to honor Coleman, who died July 5 at the age of 64.It was a ceremony filled with song, prayer and recollections. Among the speakers was Louisville Urban League President Ben Richmond, who called Coleman 'a drum major' for justice."Instead of carrying a drum major's baton, Louis relied on a bullhorn, and like no one else could, he could use that bullhorn to attract attention about the need for change," Richmond said.Coleman was buried in Calvary Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Rick Howlett was midday host and the host of LPM's weekly talk show, "In Conversation." He was with LPM from 2001-2023 and held many different titles, including Morning Edition host, Assignment Editor and Interim News Director. He died in August 2023. Read a remembrance of Rick here.
