A man released from prison last week after serving time for killing a Jefferson County sheriff's deputy has been sent back to the facility after it was determined that he hadn't completed his full sentence.Officials say Peter Bard was mistakenly given credit for time served during a period when he was not under criminal indictment for killing Deputy Floyd Cheeks in 1993.Bard was released July 1 to a state mental health facility. He suffers from chronic schizophrenia and has either been in prison or a state hospital since his arrest.State Justice Secretary Michael Brown says a warden's warrant was issued when it was determined that Bard still had about five years left on his prison term."Mr. Bard was returned to the custody of the Department of Corrections and delivered back to the Kentucky State Reformatory," Brown said.The family of the slain deputy complained after learning about Bard's release.Bard's public defender says he may ask for a hearing to contest his client's imprisonment.
