Greater Louisville Inc. is downsizing its staff. The chamber of commerce has announced it will lay off six employees in its membership, operations and communications departments.Spokesperson Carmen Hickerson says the cuts are part of a restructuring effort as GLI prepares its master plan for the next three years.βOf the body of work that those people were doing, some of the work will be done by other people in the organization, some pieces and parts of it we might hire someone to do as a freelancer or something like that," says Hickerson. "In other cases, weβre just not going to do some of the things they were doing.βGLI received a $120,000 cut in the latest city budget, but Hickerson says private donations have increased enough to fill the funding gap. She says the layoffs are not related to budget concerns.
