Friday, June 27, 2008The Business of Comedy
Stop me if you've heard this one: A guy walks into a bar. The bar owner knows that if this guy buys two drinks, and so does everyone else in the bar, he'll have enough to cover his overhead expenses, recoup what he spent in alcohol & licensing, and still have money left for advertising and to pay the comedians. Okay, so it wasn't funny, but the business of comedy isn't all laughs. In today's world, where anyone with a computer can watch free humor for hours on the internet, it can be tough to make ends meet as a comedy club owner, and even harder to eke out a living as a stand-up comic. Join us this Friday for a look at the comedy business - just don't throw any tomatoes!
