Metro Council To Approve Final Budget

After a month of hearings the full Louisville Metro Council is ready to consider a final budget. The council is expected to vote Thursday on a revised version of the spending plan submitted by the mayor. Wednesday night, the council’s budget committee made several adjustment to the plan. Minority caucus spokesperson Steven Haag predicts some council members will propose more amendments Thursday.“We had a lot of concerns with what we got from the mayor’s office when he first presented it," he says. "There are a lot of changes that we’re going to agree on. There may be a few projects that we disagree on. The good thing is that through the last month of hearings we’ve gotten some answers, we’ve been able to address some of those concerns and no matter what we’ll have a better budget when it’s passed.”Haag predicts most of the changes will involve funding to external agencies and bonded projects for downtown construction projects.
