Project DRI Enters Third Phase

Louisville is about to start the third phase of the Drainage Response Initiative, better known as Project DRI.The initiative started in 2003 to address flooding concerns in the Okolona area. Since then, it’s been expanded to include more than 700 drainage-related projects.At a ceremony Friday celebrating the completion of the second phase of the project, Mayor Jerry Abramson said he’s looking forward to the next step.“We now have put over $150 million going into phase 3 in terms of working with neighborhoods’ drainage problems," he said. "We’re in every one of the council districts we have done programs or projects in and right now phase three will be another 200 to 250 projects throughout the community.”So far the project has cost $122 million dollars. Phase three is estimated to cost about $44 million.
